SHINE A LIGHT ON CITY GOVERNMENT

Friends & Neighbors,

The voters of Dardenne Prairie who came to the polls on April 6 decided it was time for a new Mayor.  I congratulate Alderman John Gotway who will take the oath of office on Wednesday, April 21.  The swearing in will take place at the Board of Alderman meeting at City Hall shortly after 7:00 PM.  The public is invited, of course.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of Dardenne Prairie as your Mayor for the past 6 years and as an Alderman for the year prior.  The City has come a long way since I was first sworn in as Mayor in May of 2015.  I will be meeting with Mayor-Elect Gotway this week to facilitate an orderly transition.

I want to thank the many people who have supported me in office these past six years and those who reached out to me in support of my re-election.  I am grateful, as well, to those who have offered condolences over the results of the election.

There are two additional upcoming events I want to call to your attention:

  • On Monday, April 12, at 5:00 PM there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to open the Dardenne Prairie Athletic Complex, next to City Hall.  The public is invited.  The first games of the 2021 Spring Youth Baseball and Softball Season start at 6:00 PM.
  • On Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 7:00 PM the City is presenting a concert by Bluegrass Entertainer of the Year and Grammy Award winner, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage.  Rhonda Vincent is a recent inductee to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and will present a concert at City Hall Park in Dardenne Prairie.  Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.dardenneprairie.org.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.  I will see your around town at Schnuck’s or Red Robin, or Town Square Pub & Grub or Indian Aroma.  In a year or so, I’ll see you at the new Imo’s and the fine dining restaurant at the new Town Square Development.

Come see your City Government at work at the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting on April 14 @ 7:00 PM and the Board of Aldermen on April 21.  The BOA Work Session starts @ 6:00 PM and the Business Meeting starts @ 7:00 PM.  All meetings are at City Hall, 2032 Hanley Road.
