High school student Madison Stumpf has earned the Girl Scouts of America Gold Award and in so doing had a day named in her honor.

Because she demonstrated a strong sense of duty, compassion and community service, Mayor David Zucker proclaimed July 17, 2019, as “Madison Stumpf Day” in the city of Dardenne Prairie.

The Gold Award is the highest level award for achievement, and is presented only to girls currently in high school. It is in recognition of providing long-lasting solutions for real-world challenges at the local, national and world levels. Less than 6% of all Girl Scouts attain the Gold Award, the equivalent of the Boy Scouts’ Eagle Scout award.

To be eligible, Stumpf had to complete a minimum of 80 hours of devoted project time. She created 16 “sensory boards” for children with autism and delivered those boards to schools providing services to children with special needs.
