Friends & Neighbors,

Recent Meeting of the Board of Aldermen

The Board of Aldermen met on Wednesday May 17 in Workshop and Regular Sessions.  Board actions included:

  • Approval of permits for the Immaculate Conception of Dardenne Parish Picnic on June 2-4.

  • Award of a contract to the low bidder, M&H Concrete Contractors, Inc., for replacement of concrete slabs in the Lewis & Clark subdivision and the Bainbridge subdivision.  Work will proceed in mid to late June and should be done by the end of July, weather permitting.

  • Amended the municipal code to allow temporary sale of fireworks at the Town Square Shopping Center.

  • Authorized the application for funding from the County Road Board for the proposed major upgrade of Weldon Spring Road in Ward 3.  Any decision on the application will not be known until August at the earliest.  If approved, the project would not likely be started until well into 2018.

  • A public hearing was held to consider a request to rezone a lot (1.37 acres) in Bates Estates from R1-A (lots of 1 acre or more (43,000 square feet) to R1-D-Planned Unit Development (lots of 12,000 sq. ft.).  Residents of Bates Estates spoke in opposition.  The applicant made a presentation in support of the rezoning and his area plan to add two houses facing Jay Court.  The Board voted to continue the public hearing on June 7 and to consider the application after further public input has been heard.  The debate on this matter was spirited, but respectful and it gave the Aldermen much to consider.

Economic outlook is encouraging new growth

We are receiving many more calls from potential developers and businesses looking into Dardenne Prairie.  The expansion of stores and homes in Wentzville has pushed so far west that some people are thinking of Dardenne Prairie as an overlooked gem.  There is room to grow.

Next meeting of the Board of Aldermen

Wednesday, June 7, 2017.  Workshop begins at 5:30 pm; the regular business meeting begins at 7:00.  There will be a Public Hearing concerning a request to rezone a lot located in Bates Estates from R1-A (one acre (43,000 sq. ft.) or greater lot) to R1-D (lot size of 12,00 square feet)

Come see your City Government at work!
